"I'm happy to say I wasn't disappointed, and it was definitely worth getting up early and travelling an hour across town to attend. "

" I expected the sessions to be informative and practical just like your articles that I read religiously. I'm happy to say I wasn't disappointed and it was definitely worth getting up early and travelling an hour across town to attend.

I particularly liked the discussion on "starting with the problem trigger" and not the "solution or benefit trigger". Also, the focus on segregating your target market and focusing on specific narrow niches helped reinforce where I was already going.

The only downside is that I'm going to have to spend time re-writing my webcopy to change my website, although I'm sure the upside of a better targeted message that gets my customers attention will soon pay off.

I would definitely recommend "The Learning Rock" to those wanting cutting edge but common sense marketing solutions."

"After attending the event, I walked away with my head buzzing...I'd be crazy not to implement what I'd learnt."

"I was pretty excited about finally meeting the both of you actually - heard and read Sean so much, that to see him "in the flesh" was great.

After attending the event, I walked away with my head buzzing - how easy the concepts are - initially I wondered how I might be able to apply it as skillfully as Sean does to my own business. However, with the delivery making so much logical sense, I'd be crazy not to implement what I'd learnt.

My biggest learning-I now fully understanding how Yes-Yes works, and looking forward to doing some of my own bundling/unbundling.

I would recommend the 'The Learning Rock Series' because, Sean's techniques throw traditional marketing and selling out the window - how refreshing! Makes child's play out of effectively presenting your services/products, so that customers see the true value in them. The techniques make the 'sales pitch' so convincing, that customers would be crazy not to buy."

"I'm not a great fan of seminars, and frankly I can't stand the "motivational speaker" industry. "

"I've got a great business, that is breaking new technical ground having gone through a few years of technical and market stasis. It's a technical production business (screen printing), but also heavily sales driven (into the brand managers and fashion designers sectors)

I'm not a great fan of seminars, and frankly I can't stand the "motivational speaker" industry. Same old hacks at every one of them hoping for some epiphany that will deliver them from the job/business that they're in. Against my normal MO I read your PsychoTactics letter, although sometimes not as thoroughly as I should (at least I'm honest, if also recalcitrant).

So with a critical eye did I come to your first Learning Rock seminar... and I can only say I'm mightily impressed. The "TRIGGERS " subject could easily have been PsychoBabble, but it wasn't; it was clear, scientific PsychoTactics.

The points that struck home were:

Selling is structure/science, not random event.

Identifying market groups as in defined a categorisation as is POSSIBLE is ESSENTIAL (this automatically defines appropriateness of services and type of offer)

A target needs their curiosity stimulated to avoid "pass-by/Yeah Right" immediate reaction.

Presentation needs to have a trigger of curiosity, and second, third and even fourth peaks (vis a vis the "Roller Coaster" simile). And longevity/customer security is about faith and contact

I've exercised the Roller Coaster tactic in the paragraph order above, just for fun. I hope it worked."

Yes, I would recommend 'The Learning Rock Series', and even more so now--after attending the first session. As I thought you were very credible and run a tight ship."

"I am looking forward to attending the next event."

"Knowing Sean's products as I do, my perceptions of The Learning Rock, before the event were very high!

I found the event excellent, informative and easy to understand.

My biggest learning from this session was that target audience is the most important. I would recommend 'The Learning Rock Series', as a great ground up approach to marketing."

"I liked the structure and the fact that you didn’t present too much information, and there was no ‘pitch’!"

"Before attending: 'The Learning Rock', seemed very well organised, created urgency, caught my interest. I wondered what the ‘sales pitch’ would be, and was keen to hear you speak as I enjoy reading your articles in the Herald.

"I found the session very organised, good presenter, warm, liked the structure and the fact that you didn’t present too much information and no ‘pitch’!

My biggest learning were: Specific Target audience and the definition of a customer-i.e. 'Someone who comes under your care, guidance or protection' -I loved that!

I enjoyed the presentation-have already told my fiancé who is the GM of a company in New Lynn who are trying to refocus their marketing"

"I am happy to get up early again to listen to advice that made me wonder why
I didn't think of it myself :It is simple and straight forward. I wish I had this insight some years ago. But there is still plenty of time to implement it."

I am happy to recommend the Learning Rock series and in fact I have already
done so. "

"I was not sure if there was going to be a sales pitch at the end. I wasn't sure if it would be worth while missing yoga to come."

After the events:
"I believe Sean is a very dynamic, charismatic speaker and practices what he
preaches. I believe there is a lot of intention and conscious thinking put into the
training for us to get the fullest value.

I learnt how to get peoples attention quickly and point out the pain. I learnt to target my market and speak to them and their concerns directly versus using a hit and miss strategy.

I have recommended, 'The Learning Rock Series' to my boss. The information is valuable in expanding business.

"I was so keen I turned up a day early! No matter what business you are in, you will get value!"

"Having been a keen reader of the Psychotactics emails, I knew it would be insightful and I wasn't disappointed. I was so keen I turned up a day early! Ok, I admit, that was a mistake (the devil is in the detail!)

It is always worth learning or even just being reminded of the basic requirement to understand things from the customers perspective. This session on pricing went straight to the needs of the customer and explained why it isn't really about price at all - and it all made perfect sense.

My biggest learning was: It's all about the customer and what they perceive as value.

Sean has a unique way of summarising and exampling universal elements of all business into easy to understand, easy to implement key points. No matter what business you are in, you will get value!"

"The learning rock is an all-encompassing sales / marketing place, with lots to learn and discover."

"My pre-event perception was one of interest and some excitement. I have read a few of your free and paid for articles, and of cause the Brain Audit. Knowing that you you have a really good way of putting ideas across, I wanted to see what you had to say about a difficult subject.

You argument is well thought out and you "proved" it using examples that one just cannot argue with. The pricing bundle concept is not new, but you give it new life.

My biggest learning for The Learning Rock session was, realising that often the nuts and bolts of what we sell is available from many supplier. Differentiation on the "service" bundle (as well as product) is key.

I would certainly recommend The Learning Rock Series. I have been out of marketing for quite some time, and it's a new world out there - with a different way of thinking - Since email , we are overload with messages, most about selling something. The learning rock is an all-encompassing sales / marketing place, with lots to learn and discover."

"I always learn something and the series is easy, not too long, and informative."

"I thought, 'I know all about business cards but seeing as it's Sean, I'll go.'

I always carry a business card and I give it away as a courtesy, and to legitimize who I am .I didn’t think of it as a sales device and I've not been comfortable with what it says, or doesn't say.

I have a new thought process and am about change my card!

My biggest learning?

-The bracket of three - Helen Hunt move over, AND, my card should be making my business attractive.
-Attractive enough for them to want me on their list and let them be on mine.
-Use BOTH sides of the card

Sean, I enjoy your learning sessions and I'm always entertained. You are an erudite speaker and you have the ability to explain yourself in a clear precise manner.

I always learn something and the series is easy, not too long, and informative. I go to learn a new tricks, and I always do. Because in spite of knowing everything, I knew you would put a different slant on something and open my mind somehow.

Think laterally - well you do, and I thank you for it."

"I would definitely recommend The Learning Rock series because the information was useful, pertinent and to the point."

"My perception prior to the event was that I would be getting some valuable and free information/knowledge just for making the effort to be there at 7.15 am!

Well, my biggest learning...there were two actually – firstly that three elements on a card is good and secondly that my business card should attract my target audience and offer them something worthwhile to sign up to my list.

I would definitely recommend The Learning Rock series because the information was useful, pertinent and to the point. I’ve already started sketching out some ideas for changes to my business card!

"After reading some of your material, I had the feeling that this was going to be a very useful seminar."

"I learned that there is something else behind a “nice” Business Card, it is not just a presentation tool, it is also a powerful selling instrument if designed and presented properly.

Now, I look at my current Business Card and find it “not expressive at all” meaning, it is lacking a solid invitation to get in touch with us. For sure the new one will incorporate the principles you explained yesterday.

I want to be present at your next event because I can see the benefits of attending it. And I am sure other people will also take good advantage of your information and The Learning Rock Series."

"My most profound experiences have been when I listen – thanks for the reminder..."

"Thank you so much, for all you taught me today. I know this will have a profound effect on my business. Thank you for taking the time to listen (and hear), what I had to say. I really appreciated it Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

After the event my perceptions were: well, no wonder it wasn’t working! I’ve got my afternoon cut out for me. I felt resistance, but with a growing awareness of how I could benefit from these changes (I was about to make).
My biggest learning: I was nowhere near communicating effectively to my market.

I totally recommend the Learning Rock series – and Psychotactics. Even though I felt resistance to making these changes (after all the effort I had put into doing things ineffectively) – I am now realising how dramatically these changes will enhance business - my ability to connect with people and turn prospects into clients.

PS: My most profound experiences have been when I listen – thanks for the reminder ;-)

Wahoo! I’m inspired "

"I'd already attended one of your sessions before so I knew it'd be good. I knew it'd be worth getting up for."

"And it lived up to my expectations. One of my pet subjects has been peoples business cards and how they need to be clear and concise, and I also speak about the 3 elements. However, you took it all to a new level by talking about giving value to the recipient. That was excellent.

My biggest learning was, using the card to get a buy in from the recipient so as to get them willingly added to your data base.

I would recommend "The Learning Rock Series 'because you get good
information and it is well presented."

"I was so excited about getting to Sean's workshop I turned up a day early at 6.30am!
And most surprisingly, I wasn't the only one! Sean's is one of the most amazing marketers
I have every met, and he shares this wisdom in a way that gets to the heart of your
business, making simple but significant changes with dramatic results."

"It was good to meet some other business people - and meet a couple of brief acquaintances."

"It was a very early start for me - but I hoped it would be a worthwhile session as I am
just starting out and my business card is still in draft mode.

It is always interesting to get different perspectives on things and everything
you said made sense. It was good to meet some other business people - and renez a couple of brief acquaintances.

It was interesting to return home and find the selected dozen or so cards that I liked from the 300 or so I must have collected to see how many of them fitted the criteria of 3 elements maximum. Nearly all did. However, very few had a tagline or an attractor and I can see real power in these.

My card is back on the drawing board and will be a much better marketing tool now. I need to get a killer tagline sorted.

Well after 1 meeting, I would recommend The Learning Rock, because I felt the content was pertinent to my business and delivered in a concise and clear manner. I definitely feel that I can use the information but also know that I will use the information. Too often a speaker delivers too much information and although you know it sounds good - you never get around to implementing it as there are too many stages. The balance was great."
