Man Wants Kidney Back

I was listing to the ABC News today and was in total shock when I heard the story about a man giving up his Kidney to save his wife's life and now asking for the kidney back. Apparently, this couple was married back in 1990 and years later his wife needed a kidney. It was amazing that the husband was even a match. But he was and he gave her one of his kidneys. This marriage was already on rocky ground, and he thought this would also help save his marriage. Later down the road, the wife filed for divorce. Now the husband wants his kidney back or paid a million dollars for it. According to the news, the wife had cheated on him with a physical therapist. I know there are always two sides to every story. But what do you think about this? Should the wife now have to pay for this kidney or give it back? I am torn with my thoughts until I hear more on the issue.

Oh boy, I'd say he has no right to ask for the kidney back or to demand money. That's the ultimate example of selfishness.

I don't know what the law says about something like this, but it seems to me that giving an organ would be a "done deal" situation. Once you do it, you can't ever ask for recompense. That's just crazy.

Before giving your kidney away to anyone I think it would be extremely important to analyze the whole process of what could happen in every area of your life, including mental and physical aspects; then you would be prepared even for such a claim.
A contract between the giver and receiver should always be drawn up before donating.
You are ALWAYS responsible for your own actions, whatever the result.
